She leaned back in the tub closing her eyes, her thoughts
automatically turning to Gabe. He had been so incredibly wonderful to
her as a lover and a friend for the last few weeks and she finally
felt she could breathe again. He had found a way into her heart when
she thought it would be frozen forever only a few short months ago.
She inhaled deeply the Jasmine scented oil she had added to her
bath thinking for once her life was truly worth living. “Still as
lovely as ever, Cara,” she heard his voice whisper and her eyes flew
open staring into the face of the one who had nearly destroyed her
soul. She could only stare for what seemed like an eternity, her
heart pounding in her chest and her breath catching suddenly.
Remembering where she was and her state of undress, she quickly sat
up and wrapped her arms around her knees holding them close to her
body. “What are you doing here Eric?” She meant to scream the words
at him, but they came out as a desperate whisper. He shrugged and
allowed his eyes to roam over her, “I wanted to see you again,” the
words held absolutely no emotion as he walked closer and bent down
to kneel at the tub.
She bit her lip to try and stop the flow of tears that threatened to
fall from her eyes. “You promised,” the words were pulled from her
soul as she felt her entire world dissolve into unreality in a matter
of seconds. “I would never deny myself what I want, Cara,” a smirk
found his face. “I had other things to attend to and now I'm free.”
He reached out to caress her cheek and she flinched. “Please Eric,”
she turned her face away from him, “don't do this to me.” Closing
her eyes tightly she hoped this was all just an illusion and that she
would wake up from this nightmare. He couldn't be real, there was no
way that fate would be this cruel again.
Her thoughts he read with complete ease but he would not deny
himself what was his to take ever again. With a speed so fast she
had no time to react at all, he pulled her out of the tub dripping
wet, molding her body to his drenching his clothes. She was so
completely shocked at first that she couldn't move.
He felt so incredible and her body responded to the insatiable craving
he had always brought out in her. In her mind she fought desperately
against the desire that flowed through her trying to remember all the
reasons she should hate him and not allow him to use her again. She
began to struggle against him as those memories flooded back in but in
all honestly she wasn't sure she wanted him to let her go.
Her hands pushed against his steel hard chest and she had to fight
back a groan as she remembered laying with him that last night. His
mocking laughter made her tremble and she felt shamed when she
recognized that it wasn't with fear. That shame made her remember
Gabe, her tender Cowboy who had shown her a completely different
side of passion. The passion he gave her was not filled with regret
or a feeling of anguish when the lovemaking was over.
Again he read her thoughts and felt a mindless rage of blood lust
overcome him. He tossed her onto the bed with no care. He
needed to distance himself from her or drain her for allowing
someone to take what he considered his property. “Where is he
Cara,” his voice was cold and calculated. It reminded her of the
night he had destroyed the Rogue Vampire that had attacked her.
She tried to stop the panic that threatened to overwhelm her as she
thought about her beautiful cowboy being destroyed at the hands of the
Sheriff. She knew that no matter the price, she would protect the man
who had so tenderly shown her how lovemaking was supposed to be
between two people who truly cared for each other.
She forced herself off of the bed and fell to her knees, her arms
wrapping around his calves in desperation. “Eric, please,” she looked
up at him tears falling down her face, “I'll do whatever you want. I'm
begging you, please don't hurt him.” Her words were completely broken.
For the briefest moment he felt a tiny spark of compassion before he
pulled it away from his thoughts.
He had struggled for months to wipe this human from his thoughts. The
memory of her blood was so intoxicating that he had Chow search for
virgins just to dampen the ache the memories of her taste created.
The passion she had given to him freely had also haunted his dead
heart and he had taken countless women, using them to drive the
thought of Cara's innocent wanton passion away.
Two months of giving in to blind blood lust had done nothing
but make him want this insignificant human even more. He
decided that she would be his until he no longer craved the taste
of her, thinking he had allowed her to have her freedom for longer
than he should have. She was only a human, he told himself, a
pet that needed to show reverence to her god and that god was him.
He caressed the top of her head as she remained on her knees sobbing.
He thought she should be this way every time she was in his presence.
For reasons he cared not to consider, his need was to hurt her, to
make her pay for every moment of time he had wasted thinking about
her. When he no longer desired or needed her blood, or her body,
only then would he consider removing his ownership. Perhaps
even then he would keep her as a pet to serve other needs.
“You will come to me when I request it,” his hand found her hair and
pulled her head back, forcing her to look in his eyes. He read her
thoughts and knew she was about to deny him. “I always get what I
want Cara,” he smirked and pulled her off her feet and up against him.
He felt her pulse race and knew it would take little effort for him
to have her begging if he chose for it to happen. But at the moment, he
wanted something much more than her body.
She saw his fangs come out and tried to pull away from him. Her
hands pushing on his chest knowing that if he bit her, she was
going to be completely lost to him. “Damn it Eric, No,” she
screamed at him using an obscenity that had never crossed her lips.
She was terrified that she wanted to feel his fangs sink deep into
her flesh.
He smirked again as he read her so easily it took no effort
whatsoever. He lowered his mouth to her ear as he whispered softly,
“You know you want this Cara.” She wanted to scream at him, to deny
everything his egotistical words implied, but she couldn't. She wanted
this more than she cared to admit, which made her struggle even more.
His mocking laugh found her ears again as his hand moved up to cup her
shapely rear and pull her against him, allowing her to feel just how
much he wanted her at that moment. The complete shock of feeling him
that close to her completely stopped any struggles as her breath
caught and she remained motionless.
It was the only opportunity he needed as he sank his fangs into her
neck drinking deeply, her blood rolling down his throat like a
soothing elixir of completely forbidden ecstasy. She groaned as he
continued to drink from her, feeling her knees grow weak as desire
flooded through every ounce of her body. She arched her neck back
giving him better access, hoping it never ended.
Her eyes closed as she allowed the pleasure to overwhelm her.
It was like being on fire in the deepest part of her existence, that place
where she never allowed her mind to roam. “More,” she whispered
desperately as she felt herself grow weak with the loss of blood.
“Don't stop,” she begged him, mindless of anything but the
passion that burned so deeply that it threatened to consume her
completely.
He pulled away regretfully, wanting nothing more than to
continue drinking in her incredible taste until there was nothing left
to devour. She clung to him, wanting to pull him back but not having
the strength. Her eyes full of mindless desire and unfocused as her
breath left in small short pants.
He cursed under his breath and lifted her into his arms, knowing just
how close he had come to completely draining her. She was oblivious
to anything but the need to feel his fangs deeply embedded into her
flesh once again as she whimpered in need. He considered giving her
his blood, but selfishly he wanted her to desire him without being able to
tell herself it was only a blood bond.
She would heal, that he knew for a certainty, and it would torture her
to remember how she had given in so easily to what he demanded of her.
Somehow it seemed only right that he made her face who really owned
her and he thought she was his more than even she imagined. He
wanted her to suffer for daring to attempt to leave him and for
taking a lover when she was his to use as he pleased.
Growling at her as the rage built inside of him again with those
thoughts, he stood up and looked down at her. The anger in his
eyes not penetrating her mind. “Never forget who you belong
to Cara,” he spat the words out allowing his control to slip.
“Sweet dreams,” he whispered tauntingly as he walked to
the window and disappeared into the night.
She could barely lift her head as she felt the warm tears slide
down her cheeks again. She hated that she had allowed him
to walk back into her life again. She couldn't deny his words
no matter how hard she tried. He did own her and she would never
be free of him. She thought of her tender cowboy, Gabe, as her tears
continued to fall. Sleep overcame her and her dreams were once again
filled with Eric.
